<p><b>Training on the Basic Life Support Skills</b></p><p>The department of medicine and therapeutics has organized a three-day Basic Life Support (BLS) training for doctors, nurses, and other health workers aimed at strengthening emergency response and improving patient care.</p><p>The training focused on equipping participants with essential life-saving skills required in critical situations.</p><p>The programme was facilitated by Dr.Priscilla Aryeetey and Dr.Margaret Peggy Ofori.</p><p>From the beginning,participants were taken through both theological and practical aspects of emergency care ,combining demonstrations with hands-on practice to enhance understanding and skill application </p><p>Key areas covered included Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation(CPR), where participants were trained on correct procedures and given the opportunity to practice using manikins. They were also trained in the use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for cardiac emergencies and how to manage choking cases in both adults and children.</p><p>The training further introduced participants to basic cardiac monitoring and ECG interpretation, enabling them to recognize abnormal readings and respond appropriately in clinical situations.</p><p>Practical simulations and group-based exercises formed part of the sessions, allowing participants to apply their knowledge in realistic emergency scenarios.</p><p>The training is expected to improve the confidence and competence of health workers in managing emergencies and contribute to enhanced quality of patient care within the hospital.</p>
