Authorities have not yet disclosed the exact nature of the suspect's relationship with the deceased but say investigations are progressing steadily.</p><p>Innocentia Avinu was reported missing on June 11, 2026, after she was last seen at the Ayensu Plaza Hostel on the UCC campus. Family members and friends launched an extensive search and appealed to the public for assistance in locating her.</p><p>The search ended tragically when a body was discovered near Hutchland Beach Resort in Cape Coast. Police later confirmed the identity of the deceased after family members positively identified her at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital mortuary.</p><p>Earlier, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, deployed a special team of experienced investigators and intelligence officers to the Central Region to support the ongoing investigation.
