Mahama Cuts Sod for Phase II of Sentuo Oil Refinery Project
Tema, Greater Accra — President John Dramani Mahama has officially cut sod for the commencement of Phase II of the Sentuo Oil Refinery Project, describing the investment as a significant milestone in Ghana's drive towards industrialisation and energy security.
<p>Addressing government officials, industry leaders and stakeholders at the ceremony, President Mahama reaffirmed his administration's commitment to promoting local value addition and expanding Ghana's industrial base.</p><p>The Phase II expansion will add an estimated three million metric tonnes to the refinery's annual processing capacity, boosting domestic fuel production, reducing dependence on imported petroleum products and positioning Ghana as a regional energy hub.</p><p>The project is also expected to generate thousands of jobs during both the construction and operational phases while strengthening local supply chains and increasing government revenue.</p><p>Government says the expansion forms part of broader efforts to promote economic growth, improve energy resilience and enhance Ghana's capacity to process its own petroleum resources.</p><p>Photo credit: myjoyonline</p>
