Ghanaian 'Dada Joe Remix' Pleads Guilty in US$4.4 Million Romance Fraud Case
TUCSON, ARIZONA | July 1, 2026:
Ghanaian businessman Joseph Kwadwo Badu Boateng, popularly known as Dada Joe Remix, has pleaded guilty in a U.S. federal court to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in connection with a romance and inheritance scam that defrauded elderly Americans of about US$4.4 million.
<p></p><h3><br></h3><p>According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Boateng admitted that he and his co-conspirators operated the scheme between 2013 and March 2023, deceiving victims through fake online relationships and false inheritance claims before persuading them to transfer large sums of money.</p><p>
As part of his plea agreement, Boateng agreed to pay US$4.4 million in restitution to compensate the victims. He was arrested in Ghana in May 2025, extradited to the United States the following month, and has remained in custody since.</p><p>
