The suit, filed at the High Court in Accra, challenges publications that Mr Abdulai claims contained false and malicious allegations of sexual misconduct involving female students at the school.

He is asking the court to declare the statements defamatory and to issue a perpetual injunction restraining the defendants from publishing further statements he considers defamatory.

The lawsuit follows a JoyNews investigation into alleged sexual abuse involving students, which prompted the Ministry of Education to direct Mr Abdulai’s suspension pending investigations.

Mr Azure has confirmed the lawsuit and said his lawyers would handle the matter.

The allegations against the headmaster and his claims against the journalist and media organisation remain subject to the relevant legal processes. The court has yet to determine the defamation case.
