The wait is finally over. The Premier League is back, and tonight Arsenal will get the new season underway when they welcome Coventry City to the Emirates Stadium. After weeks of transfer news, pre-season games and plenty of predictions about who will win the title, we can finally get back to what everyone really wants; football.

Arsenal go into the game as champions and will be looking to start their title defence with a win in front of their home supporters. There will be plenty of expectation on Mikel Arteta and his players, especially after the way they finished last season. But Coventry will not be coming to London just to make up the numbers.

For a newly promoted side, facing the defending champions in the opening game is a huge challenge. At the same time, it gives Coventry the chance to make an early statement that they belong in the Premier League.

Arsenal will have most of the pressure tonight. They are expected to win, they are at home, and anything less than three points will immediately bring questions. For Coventry, the situation is different. They can play with less pressure and try to enjoy the moment. That is what makes the opening game interesting. On paper, Arsenal are the clear favourites, but football is rarely decided on paper. For Arsenal, tonight is the beginning of another long journey towards the Premier League title. For Coventry, it is the start of a new chapter after returning to the top flight.

One thing is certain, after a long summer, the Premier League is finally back.

Arsenal vs Coventry. Champions against newcomers. The first three points of the new season are up for grabs.

Let the football begin at 7pm tonight!
