The church said 14 people were killed in Merti district on October 20, while another 46 died in an attack in Sherka district on October 24. More than 20 people were reportedly seriously injured, and at least 20 homes were burned.
A church official described the violence as a massacre, while reports indicate that several residents have fled their homes amid fears of further attacks.
Responsibility for the killings remains disputed. Oromia regional authorities have blamed a newly formed rebel alliance, but a source linked to the alliance accused the regional government of involvement. Neither allegation has been independently verified.
The church has called on the government to strengthen security, protect civilians and bring those responsible to justice.
The killings have renewed concerns over persistent insecurity in parts of Ethiopia, where ethnic and political conflicts have repeatedly led to civilian casualties and displacement.
