Monaco Goes To The Top, As PSG Winless Run Continues In Ligue 1
Despite taking the lead and dominating large parts of the opening half, PSG once again failed to hold on to their advantage, leaving them without a win after three league matches.

Paris Saint-Germain's difficult start to the new Ligue 1 campaign continued on Friday night as they suffered a 2–1 defeat to AS Monaco at the Parc des Princes. Despite taking the lead and dominating large parts of the opening half, PSG once again failed to hold on to their advantage, leaving them without a win after three league matches.

Marquinhos gave PSG the perfect start in the 31st minute, turning in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's dangerous delivery to put the hosts ahead. PSG looked comfortable for much of the first half, creating several opportunities and forcing Monaco goalkeeper Lukáš Hrádecký into a series of important saves.

However, the game changed after the break. Monaco grew into the contest and eventually found an equaliser through Flávio Nazinho in the 58th minute. PSG continued to threaten, but Hrádecký stood firm, denying the home side on several occasions. Monaco then completed the comeback in the 72nd minute when Stanis Idumbo finished a well-worked move to make it 2–1. PSG pushed desperately for an equaliser late in the game.

but even when Ferran Torres appeared to have found the net, the goal was ruled out for offside. Hrádecký then produced another outstanding save in stoppage time to preserve Monaco's victory.

The defeat means PSG have now gone three Ligue 1 matches without a victory. They drew their opening two matches against Rennes and Lille before suffering their first league defeat against Monaco. In all competitions, the run without a win stretches to four matches, following their Trophée des Champions defeat to Lens.

But perhaps there is another question worth asking: could PSG simply be fatigued? The Parisian giants have spent the past few seasons collecting trophies at an extraordinary rate. They have won back-to-back Champions League titles and continue to carry the expectations that come with being one of Europe's most successful teams. Add their domestic dominance, multiple Ligue 1 titles and numerous Coupe de France triumphs to the demanding European schedule, and the physical and mental burden on the squad becomes an interesting talking point.

Could the players be suffering from trophy fatigue after so many years of competing at the highest level? It would be premature to make that conclusion after only three league games, especially with the squad undergoing changes and Luis Enrique himself pointing to a shortened pre-season and the need for new energy.

The good news for the French champions is that the season is still in its early stages. With a long campaign ahead and the Champions League about to begin, there is plenty of time for PSG to rediscover their rhythm.

But for now, the questions are growing. Is this merely a slow start to another dominant PSG season, or are the champions beginning to show signs of fatigue after years of relentless success?

Only time will tell.
