The development comes after weeks of reports surrounding the breakdown of the couple’s marriage, including claims that Florence’s family returned the traditional Tiri Nsa to Bishop Obinim’s family as part of a traditional divorce process.

YEN.com.gh reported on September 14 that Florence’s social-media page had been rebranded from “Florence Obinim” to Lioness Ministries. Promotional materials also reportedly began using the name “Lioness” rather than her husband's surname.

The development is significant because Florence had previously indicated that she was prepared to drop the “Obinim” name from her stage identity if her husband requested it.

Husband reportedly demanded removal of surname

The latest development follows a circulating audio recording attributed to Bishop Daniel Obinim.

According to a report by ZionFelix.net, the voice in the audio is heard instructing Florence to stop using the “Obinim” surname after he said he had accepted the traditional drinks returned by her family.

However, the audio has not been independently authenticated, and neither party has publicly confirmed that the recording is genuine. It should therefore be treated as an alleged recording rather than an established fact.

‘Akua Lioness’ emerges

Another report published by GhanaMedia on September 16 described Florence's new identity as “Akua Lioness.” The outlet, however, acknowledged that while the broader Lioness rebrand is corroborated, the specific claim that she has formally changed her name to “Akua Lioness” has not been independently confirmed.

Florence was born Nana Akua Sarfowaa, according to an earlier YEN.com.gh biography, meaning “Akua” is associated with her original name.

For now, the confirmed development is that the musician has moved away from the Florence Obinim branding on her social-media platforms and is increasingly presenting herself under the Lioness identity.

The change comes as the reported divorce saga involving the couple continues to generate public attention.
