The first batch of National Service Personnel selected for the Basic Military Training Program has commenced medical screening ahead of the commencement of training scheduled for December 2026.
The initiative forms part of President John Dramani Mahama’s vision to offer interested National Service Personnel the opportunity to undergo basic military training, a commitment he reiterated during his 2026 State of the Nation Address.
The program attracted an overwhelming response from interested personnel, leading to the selection of the first cohort.
The first batch is expected to begin training in December, with subsequent batches scheduled to follow in the coming months.
