Hon. Iddrisu gave the assurance when he visited the National Resolution Centre at the GNAT Hall in Accra on Wednesday, September 16, to assess challenges confronting parents and students ahead of the reopening of schools.

The visit was aimed at giving the Minister first-hand information on concerns being raised over the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS). At the centre, the Minister interacted with parents and students who had reported various difficulties, including requests to change schools because of distance, boarding or day status, and discrepancies between students' preferred programmes and their placements.

Hon. Iddrisu acknowledged that the placement process had encountered challenges but expressed confidence that the outstanding issues could be resolved. He said the CSSPS team would continue working to address cases before students report to school, stressing that every qualified student should have access to secondary education.

According to figures provided by the Ministry, 527,932 out of 604,567 qualified candidates had been successfully placed as of September 7, representing about 87.3 per cent of eligible candidates.

The Minister also indicated that the government was considering measures to address structural difficulties within the placement system. He pointed to the shortage of places in highly demanded Category A schools and the need for increased investment in classrooms, dormitories, laboratories and workshops.

The Ministry has separately announced plans to establish a Technical Working Committee to undertake a comprehensive review of the CSSPS after the current placement exercise. The review is expected to examine the system's operations and recommend measures to improve transparency, fairness and efficiency.

The Ministry has also reminded parents that CSSPS placement is free and urged anyone who is asked to pay money to secure or change a placement to report the matter to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.

With SHS students scheduled to begin reporting on September 18, authorities are continuing to work through outstanding cases at the resolution centres.
