The latest victim was a 65-year-old woman who died on Friday after developing symptoms while in quarantine. She was a close relative and direct contact of Kenya’s first confirmed patient, who died in Nairobi on October 5.
The Ministry of Health said seven patients remain under treatment at two designated isolation facilities. All nine cases are linked to a single cluster, with no evidence of wider community transmission.
Authorities have traced contacts of infected patients and continue to strengthen surveillance and containment measures to prevent further spread.
Health officials have urged the public to avoid contact with the bodily fluids of suspected or confirmed patients, maintain proper hand hygiene and seek medical attention if symptoms develop.
The outbreak originated in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and has spread to other countries, prompting increased regional surveillance and public health preparedness.
