Mr Quayson received Madam Doris Adu Gyamfi at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Accra on Monday, November 2, 2026, to express the government’s condolences following the tragic death of her son.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister assured the bereaved mother of the government’s support and pledged that the Foreign Affairs Ministry would work through Ghana’s diplomatic mission in the United States to engage relevant American authorities.
He said the government was committed to ensuring that the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death received the necessary attention.
Javits was reportedly shot while walking to school in the Bronx on Thursday, October 29, and later died at a hospital. The 15-year-old had relocated from Ghana to the United States about a year ago to join his father.
New York police are investigating the killing and searching for three teenage suspects. No arrests had been announced at the time of reporting.
The incident has sparked grief among Ghanaians at home and abroad, with calls for a thorough investigation and justice for the deceased.
